To members in recognition of service

As a member of the club supper team: Joan joined the club in 2013 and has been unobtrusively helping out in the kitchen one way or another since she joined. She has been a member of the core supper team on club nights, and helped at tartan nights, annual dances and social events.

Joan resigned from the supper team earlier this year when injury and other commitments meant she was unable to consistently attend club. We hope to see her back at club next year.

Fiona Pocock

As a member of the club supper team: Fiona joined the club in 2014, and like Joan, has been a kitchen stalwart. She has been a member of the core supper team on club nights, and helped at tartan nights and annual dances.

Fiona is resigning from the supper team this year as she will be leaving Wellington to move into her newly built retirement dream house.

Emma Wilkins

As a committee member, especially event organisation: Emma has been a committee member for the last two years, attending meetings, helping with posters for beginners’ classes, and volunteering her time to organise our mid-winter dinners in amongst working and raising a family.

Emma (and her family) have been great supporters of club events, and have swelled our club membership – there are now four who are club members! Family commitments mean she is resigning from the committee, but perhaps we will see her back when family commitments allow.

Janet McFadden

As a committee member, especially beginners’ advertising: Janet has also been a committee member for the last two years, and like Emma has been a conscientious worker as needed. She has attended meetings, co-ordinated distribution of beginner’s posters, and analysed attendance statistics from people attending our beginners’ classes.

Janet has achieved this amongst family and other voluntary commitments. She has now been persuaded to join the parish council, so cannot continue on the committee. As with Emma, never say never again, she may be back.

Elizabeth Ngan

For special projects – oversight of the restructuring of the supper team, and development of a joint list of duties for our first shared annual dance: Elizabeth continues to serve as supper co-ordinator, and has extended her role this year by taking on two special projects which will benefit the club into the future.

  • The first was implementing a restructure of the supper team so that more people could become involved, rather than limiting it to just a few. This has resulted in more people being trained up, and more time on the dance floor for core supper team members. Elizabeth continues to support all our new volunteers.
  • The second was a more administrative type of project, drawing up a complete list of on-the-ground duties for our first shared annual dance, and then allocating duties for both Island Bay and Johnsonville volunteers.
